I don't take very many vacations, so when I was invited to a wedding in Tennessee, it was the perfect opportunity to stay for a week in the Smoky Mountains. All I can say is that I've been missing out! I realized that a few days off of work here and there isn't really enough for me to unplug. Having a whole week off to unwind and rediscover my inner peace was amazing. I need to schedule real breaks in my life more often.
A bunch of us chipped in on a big cabin. There were a lot of musicians in the group, so we set up a private concert for ourselves, right outside on the deck overlooking the mountains. The combination of the live music and the beautiful scenery was unreal. This is my favorite kind of vacation. The kind where I'm in the company of good people, and everybody is relaxed, carefree, and gelling. We had a few things we wanted to do out there, but also kind of made it up as we went along. And - bonus - someone got married at the end! It doesn't get much better than that.
